Dylan Hoang was born on 30 October 1995 in San Jose, California and his first aspiration was to become an animator. He soon became interested in film and began acting at a young age in school plays. It all changed when he picked up his parents' camcorder and started to direct his own films.
He is a strong advocate of shooting on film and edits all of his work as well.
