Biography

  • Ryan Robert Minford is a film editor. He's been editing since early 2009 when he joined a film production class at his high school. No one wanted to edit, so he stepped up, and took on the task. From that moment on, he's edited every film he's ever shot. After making dozens of films in undergrad at Ringling College of Art + Design, and even more films in grad school at ArtCenter College of Design; he decided to take on the task of completing his first feature film, The Cry.

After writing, directing, and shooting the film for 9 months, he took the next 11 months to edit the film. The complexity of the concept and limited budget really pushed him to be creative, and he found himself yet again in the editing room. He fell in love with the process of finding the movie in the rubble, solving the problems of the production, and ultimately, crafting the last re-write of the film.

From there, Ryan continued cutting, working on celebrity weddings, behind-the-scenes videos for TV shows, as well as music videos and commercials. He has worked as a Union Assistant Editor on films and TV shows with companies like Hallmark, Michael Bay's 451 Media Group, T-Mobile, Apple, Honda, and Hyundai. And he still edits films whenever he can. His latest project is a feature film titled The Class Reunion, directed by Chazitear and starring Lil Rel Howery (Get Out) and Sarunas J. Jackson (Insecure) is set to release early next year.

Ryan looks forward to editing more feature films in the coming year. He prefers to cut on AVID, but has worked in Premiere and Resolve as well. He would love to connect and hear about your next film.
