- When shooting the scene in 'Christmas Perfection' (2018) in which Brandon searches the upstairs rooms for Darcy, the first door that James opened during the final take had (much to James' surprise) the first assistant director Craig Kenny standing behind it wearing nothing but his underwear.
- During his costume fitting for 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' (2018) James noticed that the boots he had to wear were two sizes too small for him. Fearing he might lose the job if he raised the issue, James told the CFX crew that the boots were a perfect fit. By the end of the shoot his feet were torn to shreds and minus one big toenail.
- First worked as a professional ski instructor in Lake Tahoe, California.
- Was cast as leading roles the first commercial, the first music video, the first two short films and the first stage play that he auditioned for after turning professional in 2012.
- Shaved his head for the lead role of Samuel in 'Future Got No Past' which revealed a very noticeable scar he never knew he had on the back of his head (from a childhood accident).
- Worked as a model in Switzerland and Norway in his mid twenties.
- Has French heritage (grandmother on mother's side of the family).
