- Dr. Andrea Letamendi was written into Batgirl comic book canon by writer Gail Simone, for her contribution to the book's detail regarding the handling of trauma. Her character's first appearance was in Batgirl #16 ("Death of the Family") and she shares Andrea's likeness and name, with the one exception that the first 'e' and 'a' in her name are swapped, forming the name "Latemendi." This was a printing error that could not be corrected in time for the book's first run. Therefore, the character's subsequent appearance in Batgirl #20 also carries the name "Latemendi.".
