Biography

  • Matthew Taylor Nikitow was born in Denver, CO, on May 28, 1994, to Dennis Nikitow, a world-renowned Chiropractor, and Sandi Nikitow, a Business owner. His father is of Russian descent and was born in Chicago, IL. His mother, who is originally from Los Angeles, comes from Italian and Spanish Ancestry. Matthew has three brothers and two sisters.

He grew up in a very athletic family where he and all his siblings competed competitively across the country. Matthew played lacrosse at the highest level from an early age. He began to get scouted by colleges at 16 years old. Unfortunately, his athletic hopes and dreams came to an abrupt halt during his senior year after suffering a neck injury that ended his career. After losing his scholarships to every college for lacrosse, it was time to find an alternative path. During his recovery, he found himself getting obsessed with films and, more importantly, the acting that went into them.

Matthew left everything and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of acting. Navigating the business, Matthew found an agent and manager and started auditioning for television and film. After filming a few short films and commercials within the first year, he knew he needed to expand his talents and technique for the future. After being in awe at the quality of work from his English peers, such as Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Eddie Redmayne, he decided to audition for the top drama schools in the world. Matthew auditioned with 5,000 other performers to the top three Drama Conservatories in Londonand was awarded one of the 26 places at all three. In the end, he chose to attend The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he received his BA in acting. Graduates include Daniel Craig, Lily James, Michaela Coel, Kingsley Ben-Adair, Orlando Bloom, and many more. At Guildhall, he got cast as the title role in the UK's first production of 'The Last Days of Judas Iscariot', which received countless four and five-star reviews. "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot," written by Stephen Adley Guirgis, was initially performed by Sam Rockwell and directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman for Labyrinth Theatre Company in New York. Matthew performed several other stage productions in London and is excited to continue his stage career in the West End and Broadway. After graduating from Guildhall, he made his television debut, starring alongside Kelli Giddish in Law & Order SVU. He has recently starred as the lead in breakthrough director Alexander Papachristou's film 'Notes On a Falling Boy and 'How it Goes' from director Ryan Espinosa.
