Biography

Neely Goniodsky has a BA in animation from Concordia University, Montreal, and an MA from the Royal College of Art, London.

She is interested in interpreting the human condition through abstract narrative and visual experimentation. In her work she attempts to translate obscure reality into visual poetry. She explores a combination of traditional animation techniques including ink and paint on paper, cut-out collage, under the camera animation, drawing on computer and 2D computer animation.

Neely has directed and animated over twenty short animated films. Some of her noteworthy productions include 'Pearl' a short film she directed and animated at the NFB, and 'The Smiths' a production for Seattle University. She has been selected to be the first Artist in Residence at the NW Film Forum. She has received a 4Culture Award as well as numerous Canada Council and CALQ grants. Her films were screened at many local and international film festival including the Ottawa International Animation Film Festival, Animafest, Zagreb, and NW Animation Festival, Portland.
