Janet Yellen was born on August 13, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. She has been married to George Arthur Akerlof since June 1978. They have one child.

She was the first woman to chair the Federal Reserve.

Was confirmed as United States Secretary of the Treasury on 26 January 2021. Making her the first-ever female one in U.S. History.

Work at the Fed is not abstract. It matters to individuals and families and businesses across the country, whether it is through short-term interest rates, overseeing parts of the banking system or helping maintain financial stability.
