- Holli Herrle-Castillo is an award winning screenwriter, novelist, appellate public defender, and former New Orleans prosecutor. She has a BA in Drama from the University of New Orleans and a JD from Loyola University New Orleans. She is the author of the Crescent City Mystery Series, including Gumbo Justice and Jambalaya Justice published by Oak Tree Press.
Holli attended an all-girl's Catholic High School and is a former state gymnastics champion. She worked her way through undergrad as a Can-Can dancer and worked as a child support collector during the day while she attended law school at night.
In 2008, she was in a near-fatal head-on collision with a drunk driver that left her incapacitated for a year, putting off publication of her first novel. During that down time, she wrote her first screenplay, the award-winning Angel Trap.
She is married to actor/writer Julio Castillo. They have two children, three dogs, and two deaf cats, and reside in the metropolitan New Orleans area.

- Growing up, Holli had a pet tarantula named Opium Dominique. She loved the spider, but was afraid of the live crickets she had to feed her.
- After applying to law school, Holli moved from working at a Can Can show in the French Quarter to working as a child support collector at the New Orleans D.A.'s Office. The hiring manager initially interviewed her for a clerical position because he wanted to see what a Can Can girl looked like. She stayed on as a prosecutor, remaining at the office nearly ten years.
- Holli has been stung by bees or wasps more than two dozen times in separate incidents throughout her life, once while on the balance beam during a gymnastics meet. Ironically, she has been stung twice immediately after saying, "Oh look, there's a bee, they always sting me.".
- Holli's oldest daughter, Sophia, is an actress who appeared in the TV series Common Law, as well as The Shylock's Daughter and Famiglia.
