Biography

Asha Chai-Chang is an Emmy Award Winning filmmaker and Oscar-qualified Writer/Director. Asha is an Afro Latina and Caribbean Asian female director with s studio experience. As a Yale University graduate and former finance professional, Asha brings a rare blend of creative vision, business acumen, and systems-level thinking to film and television.

Her Netflix-funded and Latino Film Institute supported comedy/fantasy short MARQUE DOS, a trilingual (Spanish, English, ASL) sitcom proof of concept, was an Oscar qualifying film for the 98th Academy Awards (2026 Oscars). The film premiered at Academy Award qualifying festivals and earned selections, wins, and nominations from organizations including the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA), where it won the Afro Latino Film Competition, New York International Children’s Film Festival (Award Nominee and FilmEd North American Tour selection), Pan African Film Festival, BronzeLens Film Festival, Cindependent Film Festival, Diversity en Cannes, and among others.
