Mini bio

  • Shoneel Yallattikar is a 34 y/o independent writer, director, producer who is a Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner in 2025. Working in Mumbai, India, since the age of 18, he has been passionately directing shows, short films, music videos, advertisements, corporate films, and small documentaries. He has been an assistant & associate director on five feature films, An editor on more than eight projects and have directed a 7 episode (3hour long) web-show for OTT. He has directed more than 11 short films and 40+ Ads.

His journey began with producing short films for his personal storytelling ambitions, and he started developing appreciation for the entire production process. From then on, he was both - a producer and a director. And yet, he always addresses himself as a director first.

Having worked on all the sides, he realized that many financial practices, hierarchies, disorganized contracts, and systematic biases are harming the creative environment on sets. And a set manned by an overworked and dissatisfied crew is also costing the production a lot.

He decided to experiment with his new systems on set while producing his first long-format project, Duet (210 minutes, 7 episodes). With minor structural adjustments and interdepartmental relationship management, he could wrap it in 17 days within the budget of $150,000, without compromising on quality. This was a far better budget outcome than many features happening in his local language at the time.

He earnestly believe that humanity always wins and it's the sensitive and sensible people around the world who will be helping him realize his dreams.
