Maza White is a writer, actor, filmmaker and experienced First Assistant Director, born in Iran and now based in Aotearoa. She speaks Farsi and French, and holds Canadian, British, and New Zealand citizenships, giving her an in-depth international perspective.
Her most recent short film, Daughter of God, funded by the NZ Film Commission, won Best Screenplay at the 2023 Show Me Shorts Festival and was selected as a finalist by the acclaimed director Niki Caro for the NZ International Film Festival's 'NZ Best' program.
Maza is an alum of the DEGNZ Incubator, Script to Screen FilmUp, and the MIFF Accelerator Lab.
Drawn to raw, complex characters and stories, she brings emotional depth to her work as a writer, actor, and director. She enjoys supporting other directors and productions as a 1st and 2nd Assistant Director.
