- David Livingstone was born on March 19, 1813 in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK. David was a writer, known for Queen Victoria's Empire (2001) and Secrets of the Dead (2000). David was married to Mary Moffat. David died on May 1, 1873 in Ilala, Barotseland [now Zambia].

- First European to see Mosi-oa-Tunya, a waterfall on the Zambezi River at the border of modern-day Zambia and Zimbabwe, which he named "Victoria Falls" after Queen Victoria.
- Great-grandfather of David Livingstone Wilson.
- Died at the village of Chief Chitambo, leader of the Lozi, in present-day Zambia. After his heart was buried under a nearby tree, his remains were sent to England, escorted by 70 of the Chief's best men, and buried at Westminster Abbey. A memorial was erected in 1902.
- Physician and Christian missionary who gained fame by his exploration of Africa. In 1869, James Gordon Bennett Jr., publisher of the New York Herald, sent Henry Morton Stanley to find Livingstone, whom no one had heard from for 6 years. On November 24, 1871, Stanley found a gravely-ill Livingstone in Ujiji, in present-day Tanzania. Livingstone refused to return to England with Stanley, and died 17 months later.
