- Ryan Michael Connolly is an independent producer, writer, and former U.S. Marine Corps officer whose work spans narrative film, documentary, and long-form storytelling. His approach is shaped by frontline leadership experience, years spent working across cultures, and a deep interest in character-driven stories that resist easy answers.
Ryan served fifteen years as a Marine Corps officer, including combat service in Iraq and later assignments in Asia-Pacific political-military affairs. After leaving active duty, he moved into independent production and founded SuperSight Media, where he produced short-form, documentary, and commercial work. That period also included production roles on large-scale AI and emerging technology projects for major global companies-work that required navigating unfamiliar technical terrain while coordinating teams spread across countries and time zones.
Alongside filmmaking, Ryan works as an independent editor and publisher, focusing primarily on memoir and nonfiction. Much of that work centers on people shaped by conflict, displacement, or moral injury. This editorial background strongly informs his producing style, particularly his sensitivity to voice, pacing, and the slow process of shaping complex material into a coherent whole.
He is a graduate of the 2017 Film and Television Production MFA program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
