Biography

Born and raised in suburban Pelham, New Hampshire, Ryan Birmingham often draws upon the experiences and surroundings that characterize his life in what he describes as "the true America". Working with no budget and using his friends and family as cast members, his movies reflect a true independent spirit. Therefore it comes as no surprise that his work was well-received at the New Hampshire Film Festival.

Birmingham's entrance into the cinematic world was a rather roundabout one. Never considering himself to be a cinephile, Birmingham was rather raised on a hefty diet of American pop culture and classic literature. In his films one can pick up references to sources as diverse as Spongebob Squarepants and Star Wars to Dostoevsky and Conrad. His career can be said to have begun in high school when he founded his production company RWBMovies with his friends. His movies earned something of a cult following among his community and via word of mouth his work was discovered by those with a taste for the avant-garde. Though a long time has passed since those days of adolescent creative fervor, his movies have never lost their youthful spirit. Birmingham, however, has never considered himself to be a filmmaker. Rather, he says, it is just a hobby. His day job finds him working in IT, and studying economics and engineering. He is also the author of several novels including Debellian Sands and The Neoteric Consummate.
