Biography

Azra Deniz Okyay was born in 1983 in Istanbul, Turkey. She is a director and writer, known for Ghosts (2020), Sulukule mon amour (2016) and Küçük kara baliklar (2013).

First Turkish woman awarded in Venice Film Festival with her first feature film.

First woman director in Antalya Film festival having both Best Film and Best Director.

Nominated, by the Oscar Academy Woman team, as the last three woman Director from the World for the Goldenfellowship Award. In 2024.

1st Woman Director having both Best Director, Best Film Awards, and been the youngest in the Turkish history on the prestigious Film Festival of Antalya.
