Omid Iranikhah (oh-MEED ee-RAH-nekuh) is an Iranian-American writer/director and actor whose work delves into the complexities of the Iranian diaspora experience. A recipient of the Michael Collyer Memorial Fellowship in Screenwriting and a semifinalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowships, his work blends humor, intimacy, and cultural specificity to tell stories that resonate beyond their immediate communities.
Through Stray Cats Productions - his production company co-founded with Mercedes Garcia - he has written and directed a slate of acclaimed short films that have screened at internationally recognized festivals including the Newport Beach Film Festival, HollyShorts, the PBS Fine Cut Festival of Films, Berkshire International Film Festival, and Dances With Films. Among them, "Farsi with Maman" is a warm and comedic exploration of assimilation and language, while "The Stoning of a Temptress" uses horror to examine patriarchy and extremism across cultures. His films are recognized for their character-driven storytelling, emotional honesty, and fresh perspectives on identity and belonging.
