Armen Sarvari
Armen's work is deeply personal and rooted in lived experience. He often casts those he knows best; family, friends, and non-actors, bringing an unfiltered authenticity to his stories. His films gravitate toward moments of realization: quiet instants when characters confront themselves, question reality, and undergo an internal shift. These moments often unfold in silence, before a mirror, in stillness, or within a pause that speaks louder than dialogue. It is in moments like these that his ability to work with actors intertwines with deliberate choices in camera movement, lighting, and editorial pacing, creating contemplative cinematic experiences.

Armen's characters are extensions of his own journey, shaped by memory, observation, and introspection. This reel is a collection of such moments, when routine dissolves, awareness takes over, and the act of thinking becomes the most powerful action of all.

Armen Sarvari is a multifaceted filmmaker with the ability to carry a project from concept to final cut. Raised in a family with four generations of influence on Iranian and Armenian culture, education and art, his passion for storytelling allows him to write in English, Armenian, and Persian, giving his work a distinct perspective on Middle Eastern, Caucasian, and North American realities. Armen is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Film and Television, where his thesis film The Voice Recorder was selected as the Best Narrative Film and also received the Audience Award. He is also a graduate of Cuba’s Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión’s Black Factory Cinema workshop with Abbas Kiarostami with his film Magdalena shortlisted by the Iranian helmer for a retrospective screening. Armen’s experience in theater, cinematography, and editing allows him to shape performances, visuals, and rhythm as a unified whole thus giving him full creative control over his stories. Based in Los Angeles, he remains closely connected to the Armenian and Iranian communities, often reflecting their social and political realities through his independent lens.
