Biography

Kristian O'Brien was born in Los Angeles where he spent a decade in foster care before being adopted by producers Shane and Zach O'Brien at 11 years old. He started working on movie sets with his parents at age 13 as a part-time intern on "Remains" and worked on multiple movies and TV specials while in high school. After graduating, he became an assistant at his parent's production company - Stargazer Films - while also continuing to work on film sets with a focus on art and production design.

Kristian suffered severe abuse and neglect while in the Los Angeles County foster care system that left enduring physical and psychological damage eventually leading to his death by suicide at age 18 when he jumped from the roof of a 40-story building in New York City.

The Kristian O'Brien Children's Foundation has been established by his parents in his memory to promote the adoption of children in foster care that are the most severe cases of abuse and neglect to help them find loving homes and to support families that have adopted children with these serious issues.
