Raine Spencer was born on September 9, 1929 in Westminster, London, England, UK. She was married to Jean-Francois de Chambrun, Earl John Spencer and Gerald Legge. She died on October 21, 2016 in London, England, UK.

Has four children with her first husband Gerald Legge: William (born September 23, 1949), Rupert (born January 1, 1953), Charlotte (born July 16, 1963), and Hon (born December 28, 1968).

Daughter of Barbara Cartland.

During her marriage to John Spencer, she had a poor relationship with her five stepchildren, including Princess Diana, who used to call her "Acid Raine". Two days after her husband's death, her former stepson, Charles Spencer, evicted her from the Spencer estate Althorp and had her designer wardrobe packed up in black garbage bags.

Although she had a poor relationship with Princess Diana when she was her stepmother -- Diana even admitted to pushing Raine down a flight of stairs in 1989 -- the two reconciled and grew closer during Diana's divorce from Prince Charles, and would meet every few weeks for lunch. Diana was also estranged from her own mother Frances at the time.
