  • Ola Masha was born in Lagos, Nigeria on April 1 1988. Ola Masha is a young writer/director, he studied at the Central School of Speech Drama as an actor, during his time there he developed an creative ideology that has led on to his commitment to Arts. He believes in propelling the voice of Black Britain and Africa's stifled voice through the various spectrum of Art.

    He studied at NYU where he underwent a Masters in film making at the Tisch School of the Arts, during his time time there Ola developed a strong sense of who he is as an artist and the type of work and organisations he wants to learn and get involved with, his dedication to tackling tough social issues and engaging in a global debate mirrors the ethos of many of his heroes such as Spike Lee, Chinua Achebe and Wole Soyinka, he has a personal drive and innovative approach to creating new and exciting work.

    From a young age, Ola has endeavoured to immerse himself in film, after successfully acquiring an intern positions at the BBC London, he was also fortunate to be selected for a programme that gave him the opportunity to live and work in Los Angeles and intern for Paramount Television and MTV Films over a 5 month period, this experience gave him an honest revelation of what life in film and television pertained, he was given roles that allowed him to learn across the vast gamut of the entertainment industry, this taught him invaluable lessons that has helped him on since then. During his three years at Drama school, he was fortunate to learn and work with some of the most influential Theatre practitioners in the field; he was introduced to new Theatre practices that he will soon learn to incorporate with his practice, creating a bold and unique vision within his work. His work history includes being involved in the post production of a Spike Lee and James McBride film, 'Miracle at St Anna'. He was also the curator behind the first student Arts Festival at The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and this lead him to his freelance role at the British Film Institute as one of the youngest curators for their annual film festival, in this capacity he aims to showcase the work of exciting African filmmakers. More recently, Ola's writing for film and Theatre as allowed him to have his work exhibited at some of the finest institutes in the UK and America, his most successful play 'Black Man Monologues' has had successful runs at the Battersea Art Centre in London and a classic Off-Broadway Theatre in New York, spurred on by his recent experiences in New York he has embarked on short films, his two newest work creating a stir within social media and amongst the young filmmakers scene.
