Biography

Grayson Hugh

Mini bio

  • Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and pianist Grayson Hugh first burst on the scene in 1988 with his RCA debut album "Blind To Reason". Born in Hartford, Connecticut, the young musician moved to New York in the mid eighties determined to get a record deal. He met his soon-to-be producer Michael Baker in an upper East Side elevator and Baker introduced Hugh to RCA Records, who signed him in 1987. "Blind To Reason" went on to spawn several global radio hits (including "Talk It Over", "Bring It All Back" and "How Bout Us") and go Gold in the U.S. and overseas. Hugh's follow-up record "Road To Freedom" (MCA 1992) was called one of the year's top ten albums by Billboard Magazine. Hugh is also known for his songs in the soundtracks for films Thelma & Louise (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) and True Love (1989). In 2010, after a silence of over fifteen years, the release of "An American Record" heralded the return to the public eye and ear of this important American artist. In August of 2015, Hugh released "Back To The Soul", a return to his Southern Soul roots. He continues to record and tour internationally, adding new members to his loyal fan base around the world. On March 15, 2025, he released his new roots country album "Save Your Love For Me". For this project he recruited some of the top musicians in roots music. The lineup is: Grayson Hugh (lead vocals, grand piano, organ, keyboard accordion, percussion), Cindy Cashdollar (dobro/lap steel guitar), Tony Garnier, (acoustic and electric bass), Pete Kennedy (acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, banjo) Gary Oleyar (fiddle, electric guitar), Tyger MacNeal (drums) and Grayson's wife Polly Messer (harmony vocals).
