  • Marla a Native and Black American is an Eclectic performer started with her discovery of her love for dance at 12 years old. After completing her training with the Joffrey Ballet school in New York Marla joined the Pennsylvania Ballet and then the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre shortly thereafter. Performing works by choreographers such as Jerome Robbins, George Faison, Donald McKayle, Jennifer Muller and Louis Falco to name a few. In 1984 she performed on Broadway in "King & I" with Yul Brynner as well as starting her career acting in Film, and Commercials, such as Dr Pepper, Puff Tissues , and the American Heart Association . Being a Native American traditional dancer, Marla worked with the American Indian Dance Theater in New York as a Choreographer, integrating traditional tribal dance with modern dance After she moved to Europe in the mid 80s to teach and choregraph. Marla was invited to become the Artistic Director of the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien's Musical Theater School (Tanz Gesang Studio) in Vienna Austria for 3 years. Returning back to New York in the early 90s Marla became the Artistic Development Director for Dick Scott Entertainment staging and choregraphing live performances and music videos for recording artists. Shortly thereafter Marla moved to Thousand Oaks and in 1995 creating her own dance company with her husband Bruno Artero, The Marla Bingham Contemporary Ballet. During that time she also co-choreographed the live show for Disneyland "The Spirit of Pocahontas" Taking some time off from the artistic world in 2001 Marla decided to train to become a Pilates and Gyrotonic Instructor when she and her family moved to San Diego . Since 2005 she opened her own Pilates /Gyrotonic Studio . In 2012 she got inspired to go back into acting again . Performing in several short films in the San Diego 48 hrs. Film festival . 2012 "Wedding Jinx", 2013 R.I.P" , Life in Reels Production , 2015 "Pine Hills", Life in Reels and in 2014 "Last Resort" Zap Productions, All had been directed by Terry Ross . Other films include 2013 "Psychic for Hire " Real Good Films 2013 The Sumner Redaction Principal Negative Space Productions .Feature Film " Beyond The Impact" Etched Motion Production. Directed by Jeff Patton "Private Investigations" LV55 Media LLC Feature film 2017 "Carving a Life " Life in Reels on Amazon Marla continues to teach Pilates, Gyrotonic at her studio in La Jolla , choregraph, dance and act.
