Prayrak Mehta traces his family roots to Gujarat, though he was born and brought up in Delhi. A trained contemporary dancer since the age of four, he competed nationally and was a finalist on Dance India Dance Lil Masters Season 1.
The shift from dance to drama came through the National School of Drama's Theatre in Education program ,that Prayrak pursued for three years before being inducted into the NSD Repertory. As part of the Repertory, he performed in multiple national and international theatre productions, working under the mentorship of some of India's most respected theatre practitioners. He has twice hosted NSD's Jashn-e-Bachpan, one of the country's most celebrated theatre festivals for children and young audiences.
His screen career began with Siddharth (2013), directed by Richie . From there, Prayrak built a body of work across streaming platforms and theatrical releases: Chhalaang (2020, dir. Hansal Mehta, Luv Films), Criminal Justice: Season 3 (2022, dir. Rohan Sippy, Applause Entertainment), Black Warrant (Netflix, dir. Vikramaditya Motwane), Kohrra S02 (Netflix, dir. Sudip Sharma), Holy Curse (dir. Snigdha Kapoor, Lotus Visuals), Ziddi Girls (dir. Shonali Bose, PN Communications), and Sisterhood (TVF).
His short film Shadows of the Moonless Nights (dir. Mehar Malhotra) was selected for the FTII Official Selection at Cannes La Cinef 2026.
Beyond performance, Prayrak is a black belt in Karate and a national medalist . He is also the co-founder of VHS (Versova Homage Screenings), a not-for-profit community platform in Mumbai that brings filmmakers and audiences together through curated screenings and conversations, reflecting his conviction that cinema's life extends well beyond the multiplex.
