Born in São Paulo, Brazil. Before making films, he worked as a film studies professor, critic and programmer. Klinger directed the feature films Double Play: James Benning and Richard Linklater (2013, Venice Film Festival Lion for Best Documentary on Cinema), Porto (2016, San Sebastián, BFI London, Rotterdam, SXSW), and Isabel (2026, Berlinale).
