Ozgur was born in Istanbul. He studied electrical and electronics engineering (BS), sociology (BS), and graphic design (MFA) in Turkey, then went on to study animation concept art at Vancouver Film School in Canada. He began making animations at an early age, stop-motion films with Lego toys, as early as 2005. Although he trained in the Canadian animation tradition at VFS, his greatest admiration is for North European studios like Cartoon Saloon and East Asian ones like Studio Ghibli.
