Igor Levit was born on March 10, 1987 in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

My decision on repertoire has never been strategic in terms of a career, but in terms of what I feel is right for me. Some of the music I play is conventional, some is unconventional, but than isn't the deciding factor, and I don't think it should be for any musician.

Many people say that music is more important than daily life, and I have always thought that this is a hoax. There is nothing bigger than daily life. We are made up of all the people we meet, all the books we read.
