Alasdair is originally from Macclesfield, Cheshire, but moved with his parents to Scotland when he was 16. He graduated from the BA Acting course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow, in 2012 and currently lives in London.
Since graduating he has worked regularly in Scottish theatre as well as recording several radio dramas for BBC Radio 4 including adaptations of John Steinbeck, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Muriel Spark. His screen work includes the BBC Comedy series, 'Still Game', the Netflix film, 'Falling for Figaro', and the Stephen Frears film 'The Lost King'.
In 2023 he was fortunate enough to reunite with Stephen Frears on the HBO Limited Series, 'The Regime', where he plays the character Malcolm. 'The Regime' is co-directed by Jessica Hobbs, written by Will Tracy, and stars Kate Winslet, Andrea Riseborough, and Matthias Schoenharts. It is currently available on HBO Max in the U.S and on Now TV/ Sky Atlantic in the UK.
