Mini bio

  • Mexican director, screenwriter, and producer known for blending satire, dark comedy, and explorations of mental health in his work. He has worked in film and television for major studios across Mexico and Latin America. Since 2004, he writes for HuevoCartoon. His feature film Conversaciones (2020) has been awarded at international festivals and was acclaimed as "one of the boldest and most innovative proposals in recent years of Mexican cinema." Clorio has been praised for his daring style - "a kind of cinema that shakes, that challenges... with a uniquely Mexican voice" - and for his creativity with limited resources. Offline, but always narrative-driven. Never excessive, always intense. A Chilango who knows he's not a spectator in this story - he's the creator.

Trivia

  • On August 2015, "Destino Manifiesto", was supposed to be Eduardo's first feature film, but, financing was rejected by the Mexican Institute of Cinematography, so, Chichas, Luli Monsalvo (producer) and his 2 creative partners; César Fuentes and Carlos M. Valerio decided they were going to shoot a new film with their own money (and their families and friends), that's how Deseo Deseo was born. Barely a year later, on September 2016, Deseo Deseo won its first award as Best Feature in Hemoglozine, a Spanish horror film fest.
  • On 2005, Chichas sold his TV and some collectible action figures in order to gather money for the trip to Guanajuato so he and his crew could participate on the 24 hour Malayerba Rally. With the support from his family and friends, they made it, they shot "La Hija del Sargento", and won the Jury Award.
  • When he was shooting Conversaciones, (his 2nd feature), Eduardo and his company ran out of cash, so, In order to pay for the catering, his wife told him to sell their car. And so they did, and the crew was fed.
