Biography

Matt Brownsett is a filmmaker from Bedford, England. He bought a VHS-C camcorder with his first ever credit card in 1989 and used it to film gigs. In 1992 he 'cut' his first film using a pair of domestic VHS tape recorders cross recording and added clips of members of the band chatting to a single camera shot of the gig with the sound captured through the camcorder mic. Titles were courtesy of the Commodore Amiga plugged directly into the recorder. The quality was incredibly poor. It can be seen on YouTube.

He began making films regularly in 2010 when he entered the Sci-Fi-London 48 Hour Film Challenge and just weeks later sat watching his film on the big screen in a London West End cinema, and became hooked.

He went on to become co-founder of the Bedford Film Making Cooperative with editor Rhiannon Shades, and they now have a nice catalogue of short films many of which have had screenings at festivals world wide.

In 2016 their film 'Rorschach Syndrome', which was made for the Sci-Fi-London 48 hour film challenge, went on to win the Judges Choice Award at the Bedford Film Festival. The films they made the same challenges in 2017 'Party of One' and 2019 'Lack of Evidence' were both given honorable mentions in the challenge and screened at the Stratford Picturehouse for the festival.

Matt also produces music videos for local acts in and around Bedfordshire, most notably 'The Ouse Valley Singles Club' whose videos have generated millions of views across social networking streams.
