Biography

Tanya Lopez currently serves as Executive Vice President, Movies, Limited Series & Original Movie Acquisitions for Lifetime® and LMN. Based in Los Angeles, Lopez, who joined the network in 2007, is responsible for developing and overseeing all feature and original movies, limited series and movie acquisitions for the networks.

Recent high-profile Lifetime® feature movies Lopez has overseen include the successful launches of Cocaine Godmother, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, which reached 10.5 million total viewers for its weekend telecasts paired with the special Griselda: The Godmother, making Lifetime® the number one cable network in its time period with Women 18-49; Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story, starring Toni Braxton, which ranked as the number one original movie on cable for 2018 to date following its premiere among the key Adults 25-54, Adults 18-49 and Women 18-49 demos in Live+3; Flint, starring Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Betsy Brandt and Marin Ireland in a story about the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, which has received multiple award nominations including an NAACP win and a prestigious Writers Guild Award; and I Am Elizabeth Smart, the definitive, authorized movie about the harrowing kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, told from her perspective and with her full participation.

Additional Lifetime® Movies under Lopez's purview include the Emmy®-nominated Trip to Bountiful, starring Cicely Tyson; the all-African American remake of Steel Magnolias, starring Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Alfre Woodard and Phylicia Rashad; Flowers in the Attic, starring Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn and Kiernan Shipka; and the Emmy®-nominated miniseries Bonnie & Clyde.

Lopez joined Lifetime® from ICM, where she was a television packaging agent from 1987 to 2006. At ICM, she successfully packaged and sold movies and miniseries to both broadcast and cable networks. She also developed both comedy and drama series, representing such programs as That's Life, American Family and Life with Bonnie. During her tenure there, Lopez worked with such notable talent as Lauren Graham, Minnie Driver, Calista Flockhart, Christina Ricci, Heather Locklear and Jada Pinkett-Smith, to name a few.

Prior to ICM, she was Vice President of Drama Series at CBS from 1995 to 1996, when she oversaw such programs as American Gothic, Nash Bridges and The Client. Lopez began her career at William Morris. Lopez is also very dedicated to community service. She helped found One Voice, a Los Angeles nonprofit organization devoted to helping families who are living at the poverty level maintain their independence. She holds a BA in journalism from California State University, Northridge.
