  • In 2001, he became a regular driver for Jaguar in Formula One, but was released by the team after scoring no points in the opening four races of the season and was replaced by Pedro de la Rosa from the Spanish Grand Prix onwards. He immediately found a new team in Prost, for whom he participated in the following ten Grand Prix weekends. He was sidelined for the final three races of the season after being injured in a high-speed crash during the Belgian Grand Prix. His seat was taken by Czech rookie Tomás Enge for the final three races of the season.
  • He tested Formula One cars for Stewart in 1999 and Jaguar in 2000. He made his Formula One debut at the 2000 Austrian Grand Prix, after Eddie Irvine was diagnosed with suspected appendicitis.
  • He tested Formula One cars for Ferrari between 2002 and 2004, but never participated in a race with the team. Upon the expiration of his contract, he returned to his native Brazil and raced touring cars there for over a decade.
  • Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for: Jaguar (2000 (1 GP)-2001 (4 GPs)) and Prost (2001 (9 GPs)). He started 14 Grands Prix.
  • Teammates in Formula One were: Eddie Irvine, Johnny Herbert, Jean Alesi and Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
