Hailing from Assam in the north-east of India, Shyam is the co-founder of Metanormal Motion Pictures whose features include 'Kothanodi' (2015, Busan International Film Festival), 'Aamis' (2019, Tribeca Film Festival), 'Emuthi Puthi' (2022, first feature from the northeast of India shot completely on phone) and 'Second Chance' (2024, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival).
