Mini bio

  • Born in Houston, Texas, Althria has always been an entertainer at heart. Being an only child for 17 years before the birth of her sister, she found companionship within the confines of her vivid imagination. Althria's love of writing, watching science fiction and horror on television, and going to the movies, cultivated and stimulated her love of the arts. As a child, a good day at home meant that she was able to perform uninterrupted the opening production for the Academy Awards, accompanied by John Williams' Star Wars soundtrack blaring in the background, with the sofa and love seat for an audience.

In high school, Althria was active in the Drama Club, Choir, and Stage Band, as well as a member of the Dance Team. With her father a popular local R&B singer and bass player, and her mother working for the postal service and an alto singer for a church group, Althria was constantly surrounded by music and entertainment. Althria is also the niece of Alma Newsom, who is one of the first African-American female television anchors. Althria was taught to dream big, aim high, and do her best in everything. She was and is also her own worst critic.

Althria's desire was always to be a writer and an actress, even completing her own science fiction story in middle school which has undergone a lifetime of rewrites. Despite her pull to entertainment at an early age, Althria went on to become a wife, mother, and then a single-parent whose sole purpose was being a good provider for her two children while maintaining her sanity. She resigned herself to working behind a desk in Corporate America because, in her mind, that is what a responsible parent did. Having been instilled with a high sense of integrity, Althria eagerly absorbed everything that her various employers had to offer - taking the things that she needed to grow, while filing the rest. Still there was a hunger in her that would not be satisfied. At the time, she did not realize that the traits imbued in her during that season would later be used to fulfill her heart's desire long after she thought that opportunity had come and gone.

Since dreams delayed are not necessarily dreams denied, Althria was able to rediscover her destiny by supporting her son, Keith R. Berry II, in his debut film - Mark Cantu's "Now Hiring". The acting bug had indeed been passed on to her son, while her daughter Ashleigh found her niche as an Air Traffic Controller with a passion for cooking. Having lost her second husband, Michael, to pancreatic cancer in 2013, Althria found being on the San Antonio film set very therapeutic as she worked through her grief. Going from Associate Producer to Executive Producer and extra in the film, Althria was now operating in her element, being able to contribute not only the talents from Corporate America, but also her natural acting abilities borne from being a lonely only child with a huge imagination who believed the sky was the limit.

Althria Berry-Goebel is coming on the scene as a force to be reckoned with both as a producer with an innate eye for detail, Keith's manager, as well as an actress in her own right. She has just completed the lead role as Mrs. Elizabeth in the holiday drama "The Pastor's Daughter", a cameo appearance in a music video, and is now in negotiations for her recently completed screen play entitled "Heart of a Hit Man".
