Biography

Born in Beirut, Christopher studied cinematography at the Université Saint Jospeh de Beyrouth and the University of Television and Film Munich.

He was named one of '10 Cinematographers to watch' by Variety and a 'Rising Star of Cinematography' by American Cinematographer Magazine for Nadine Labaki's Oscar-nominated 'Capernaum', which won him a German Cinematography Award in 2019, after premiering in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

In 2020, 'The Man Who Sold His Skin' (Dir: Kaouther Ben Hanias) premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Orizzonti Award for Best Actor. It was nominated at the 93rd Academy Awards for Best International Feature and Christopher's "painterly work" (Hollywood Reporter) earned praise from renowned colleagues, such as Ed Lachman.

He lensed the first season of the Netflix series 'The Empress' (Dir: Florian Cossen), which won an International Emmy for Best Drama Series, as well as an episode of the acclaimed anthology series 'Zeit Verbrechen: Deine Brüder' (Dir: Helene Hegemann), for which he won a second German Cinematography Award, after it premiered at the 2024 Berlinale.

2025 will see the premiere of 'All That's Left of You' (Dir: Cherien Dabis) at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as 'In the Shadows' (Dir: Anthony Wonke), based on the true story of female boxer Ramla Ali, which is currently in post-production in London.

Outside of features, he has shot over a hundred commercials and music videos worldwide for renowned artists including Rina Sawayama, Lou Doillon and Selena Gomez. He's a member of both the German and European Film Academy, as well as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science.
