Biography

Susan Bayani is an Iranian- Canadian director, writer and producer based in Toronto, Canada; graduated from Luchino Visconti film school in Milan, Italy and York University in MFA. Her course of life and study has made her an international filmmaker with a transnational view toward human subject matters of various cultures in different languages. Political issues, violence and women issues are main concerns in her art. In her documentaries as well as her narrative works Susan has been pursuing characters who are politically and socially conscious. Women who despite the patriarchal society are able to overcome any obstacle and put up a great fight. Her research involves strong and active women protagonists, humor and political cinema.
