John Maloof is an American author, collector, and filmmaker best known for discovering the work of street photographer Vivian Maier. In 2007 he purchased boxes of her undeveloped negatives at a Chicago auction, later uncovering more than 150,000 images that revealed her talent. Maloof became the primary archivist of her work and co directed the Oscar nominated documentary Finding Vivian Maier (2013), which brought her global recognition.
