Ingenue (pronounced "on zha new") is a drag actress best known for playing Layla in the feature film "God Save the Queens" and Gloria White/Annie Lester on the TV series "Roads To Keystone" (RTK). RTK won "Best Makeup" twice in a row at the Indie Series Awards, thanks to her skills. In 2019, she accepted the show's award from thee Lou Diamond Phillips. On RTK, the amnesiac and agoraphobic character Gloria White looks most like Ingenue, but in reality her alter ego plays 18 different roles on the show, from matriarch Gail Sedgewick to villain Lisa White to town loon Stanley Hess.
Having started her career as the first weekly, drag nightclub hostess in Los Angeles in May 2005, Ingenue made the leap to acting, after honing her improv skills on those West Hollywood stages. Therefore, she played several nightclub hostesses and herself in such shows as "Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?", "Little Women: LA," "The Burn with Jeff Ross," and "Chasing The Saturdays." She then played an office manager of sorts in Funny or Die's skit "Drag Queens Read Ivanka's New Book."
Making her way to movies, she starred in the feature film "Loren and Rose." She played Rose' Martini, a drag queen obsessed with Jacqueline Bisset's character Rose Martin. The film was written and directed by Russell Brown and also stars Kelly Blatz and Erin Cahill. Her role was cut from the movie, but it remains as one of her favorite projects.
Immediately after production ended, she was cast in her dream role of Layla in the short film "Marmalade," playing opposite fellow drag actors Kelly Mantle, Vicky Vox, JP Moraga, and Honey Davenport. It is now a feature film entitled "God Save the Queens," starring Michelle Visage, Alaska Thunderfuck, and Peter Facinelli. It was written and directed by Jordan Danger and produced by Lanie Guidry and Cecile Cubilo, an all-female dream team for sure.
Fun facts about Ingenue? She won back-to-back WeHo Awards (the Oscars of the West Hollywood gay community) for "Outstanding Drag Diva" in 2008 and 2009. She is one of the original West Hollywood prom queens, having her crown placed atop her head by "RuPaul's Drag Race" winner Raja in 2007. In June of 2023, Ingenue was inducted into the Hollywood Museum as one of the "Legends of Drag." Her display was front and center in the exhibit with Coco Peru behind her and Dame Edna to her right.
Her acting idol is Tracey Ullman, who gave her permission to play both male and female characters. Tyler Perry is the person she wants to emulate, playing a heightened version of herself in films and writing and producing guilty pleasure television shows and movies.
