Sam Cousins was born in rural
Suffolk, England and grew up on a working farm. After a life-changing
moment at the age of 20 he moved to Scotland then began travelling the
world capturing the sounds of the Islamic Sufi musicians and singers
and producing CDs of his recordings.
During a visit to South Africa he agreed to help a friend record sound for a documentary. This led to more documentary work and after encouragement from his friends in Africa he decided to return to England to pursue his new passion, putting sound to film.
