Biography

  • Roy Coulter was born on December 6, 1965, in Landstuhl, Germany, to Roy Gene Coulter and Doris Heidemarie Ingeborg Waske while his father was serving in the United States Air Force. Raised in a military family, Roy spent much of his childhood living throughout the United States as his father continued his military career. During his youth, Roy was actively involved in team sports, Air Force JROTC, Drama Club, and Scouting. At the age of 16, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and later served as Cadet Commander during his senior year of high school. He graduated from Rossville High School in Rossville, Georgia, in 1984. Following graduation, Roy enlisted in the Tennessee Air National Guard in Nashville. While serving with his unit, he attended junior college and worked in roofing before entering active duty with the United States Air Force in 1986. During his distinguished military career, Roy served in Security Police/Forces and Recruiting Service assignments, ultimately achieving the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7). After more than 21 years of combined military service, he retired in 2006. Roy’s acting career began shortly after his retirement when he attended an open casting call for the feature film We Are Marshall. Although he initially auditioned for the role of a football referee, he was cast as a National Guard troop, launching his transition into film and television. He later made his television debut portraying a football referee in the Necessary Roughness television series and reprised similar roles in The Game. Roy also appeared in the acclaimed FX series Atlanta, portraying both a gun store shopper and a basketball referee. Roy secured his first recurring television role as a Secret Service Agent in The Haves and the Have Nots and later appeared as a Kingdom Guard in Seasons 7 and 8 of The Walking Dead. His additional television credits include appearances in The Originals, 24: Legacy, MacGyver, Your Worst Nightmare, The Tall Tales of Jim Bridger, and Picture Perfect Sister-in-Law. He also appears in the series Chad Powers and several upcoming productions in development. On the big screen, Roy’s credits include appearances in Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House, The Fate of the Furious, Love, Simon, Logan Lucky, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, along with numerous independent feature films, web series, music videos, and stage productions. Roy has also toured in theatrical performances of Deep Greenwood: The Story of Black Wall Street and the Massacre of 1921, further showcasing his dedication to meaningful storytelling both on screen and on stage. Known for his professionalism, enthusiasm, and authenticity, Roy remains deeply committed to every role he undertakes. He is professionally represented with East Coast Talent Agency. Outside of acting, he continues his longtime passion for football officiating, a pursuit he has enjoyed for more than 30 years. Roy is married and is the proud father of six children and grandfather of five grandchildren.
