Belhia Martin, BA, JD, has been a highly regarded attorney since 1979,
when she joined the Louisiana Bar Association. She began her
Constitutional Law nationally recognized work in 1978 with her
successful appellate appearance before the United States Supreme Court.
Attorney Martin's notable work in film and music began in 1974 with her
contributions to the famous Labelle 'Nightbirds' album whose songs
would later appear in several films including box office hit 'The Long
Kiss Goodnight (1996).' Attorney Martin joined the Maryland Bar
Association in the late 1990's after leading educational programs in
Washington, DC and West Africa. She has been in private practice in
Louisiana since 2004, and she is a former Deputy City Attorney.
Attorney Martin represents the estate of her mother, Ora M. Lewis and
father, Lawrence Martin, Sr. Her firm and its film development team
have managed the production of the feature films on Ms. Lewis' life as
well as the planned film adaptation of Ms. Lewis' novel, SEEDS In The
Wind (2000) since 2010.
