Clayton is an internationally acclaimed film and TV composer based in Vancouver, Canada. Known for his evocative, story-driven scores, Clayton brings a unique, creative energy to each project, ensuring his music not only fits the narrative but amplifies it.
His early musical explorations into heavy rock and experimental synthesis sparked a journey from jamming in local bands to producing and touring with Grammy-nominated alternative hard rock acts Ministry and the Revolting Cocks. Clayton emerged as a sought-after remixer and producer, collaborating with multi-platinum artists such as Filter, Prong, and IAMX. His mixes also appeared in video games and film soundtracks, including EA Sports NHL 10 and Saw V.
In 2013, Clayton was offered the opportunity to collaborate on the indie thriller Dead Within (Millennium). His role as an additional composer and score mixer sparked a deep passion for film scoring, and by 2015, he made the leap to full-time composer with the sci-fi thriller Hacked (Sony).
Clayton's breakthrough came in 2016 when BAFTA/LA Choice Award-winning director Leila Djsani approached him to score Like Cotton Twines (Netflix), a gripping drama about religious slavery in Ghana. The film went on to win multiple awards, and Clayton earned a nomination for Best Original Score at the Ghana Movie Awards. Clayton and Djsani's partnership continued with 40 and Single (UMC), an edgy TV drama starring Vanessa Williams. The series went on to win the Audience Award at the LA Film Festival in 2018.
Clayton has composed scores for a wide range of award-winning narrative features, documentaries, and critically-acclaimed short films. His work has garnered numerous accolades, including a Best Original Score win for Vicky's Not Here at the 2019 Independent Short Awards.
