Maxime Gilbert is a French-Canadian writer, producer and director.
Born in the multi-cultural suburbs of Montreal in the early 1980s, he developed a deep passion for films and knew, at a very early age, that he wanted to be a filmmaker.
After graduating from Concordia University in 2006, he directed a number of award-winning short films before directing his first feature film, "La Désolation d'Henri Desmarais", with a modest budget of $6000 USD, at the age of twenty-nine.
In 2015, he wrote and directed his short film "Gros Mots", which won the 2015 New York Twenty-Four Hour Film Race and has been showcased in festivals all around the world.
In 2019, he wrote and directed "La fin du monde", a short film that held its premiere at the Sanford Independent Film Festival in Maine.
In 2024, he completed work on another short film, "Une tite frette", now entering on the festival circuit.
