She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2014 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to Higher Education and to Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology. She is a Reader in Solar Physics at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. She lives in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England.
