Born Marta Lucia Saldarriaga in Medellin, Colombia, Lucia Saldarriaga is a Colombian-American actress, writer, director, print model, singer and producer. She was adopted by an American family as an infant. As a child, she did ballet, competed in gymnastics and participated in many sports. She graduated from George Washington University where she studied International Relations (focusing on Global Public Health) and Fine Art. She was a child print model and first started acting as a young voice-over actor in commercials. She also appeared on the Gayle King Show in the early 90s.
She first studied and trained in theatre acting while she was a student at GWU to help overcome shyness and make new friends by signing up for an acting class on campus. She then trained at Studio Theater in Washington, DC. Her first professional acting role was in the 2011 stage production of, "Moby Dick, An Adaptation for Theater" (as an Innkeeper/Ensemble). Alongside the director, her castmates and the entire production team, the production premiered at the Capital Fringe Festival in DC (2011). She then continued working as an actor in a production at the 13th Street Repertory in The Village in New York, NY. She became SAG-AFTRA eligible in 2012. She also spent time teaching English in an orphanage in a Buddhist Monastery in Nepal. She is a certified Aerial Yoga Teacher in NYC and certified Scuba Diver. She is an avid tennis player.
She was Reina Lady Colombia Intercontinental 2020.
She officially left the entertainment industry and retired from acting/performing in 2019 to focus on other career/educational aspirations. Her last theatrical performance was in Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" for V-Day 2019. She played the character, "The Woman Who Loved to Make Vaginas Happy". Alongside her director, cast and crew, all proceeds from the sold-out (three night) performances were donated to the domestic violence shelter and information center, ACORUS.
She openly identifies as bisexual and her pronouns are She/Her/Hers. She is an advocate for Amazon Watch, ACLU and LGBTQ+ equality, visibility, and allyship.
