Maricarmen López (Mari) is a Showrunner, Executive Producer, and Media Strategist with 15+ years shaping culture-driven storytelling across television, digital, and branded entertainment. Her work centers on talent, truth, and community, creating projects that resonate in both legacy media and the creator economy.
She began in music at Slip-N-Slide Records, rising from intern to managing artists like Jagged Edge and later guiding the brand and advocacy work of Hip-Hop icon Slick Rick, including his successful U.S. citizenship campaign.
Mari went on to become a key creative force in unscripted television. She helped expand Love & Hip Hop into a global franchise, cast and developed breakout stars including Cardi B, and launched Love & Hip Hop: Miami, bringing Afro-Latin narratives to the series. At Paramount Global, she relaunched Black Ink Crew: LA and guided Caught in the Act: Unfaithful through a network transition that resulted in its first spinoff.
Her recent work spans a new wave of creator-led and digital-first storytelling. She produced the viral docuseries Sebastian Telfair: Final Days of Freedom (1M+ views in its first month), showran Fat Joe Talks for STARZ, and helped bring Marcus Lemonis’ The Fixer to FOX/Hulu through brand-integrated storytelling.
Through her company, MCL Media, Mari partners with studios, networks, creators, and brands to build stories at the intersection of creativity, culture, and community. Her mission remains consistent: honor the people, tell the truth, and move culture forward.
