Born in Izmir, Turkey, in 1981, Murat Pay studied Radio, TV, and Cinema at Marmara University before earning a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Theology (Islamic History and Arts), where he wrote his thesis on Shadow Play Karagöz and Cinema. His short films and documentaries have screened at numerous national and international film festivals, earning several awards. He continues to explore cinema through both theoretical research and filmmaking practice.
