- Melissa Jean Woodside is a direct descendant of William King, an American merchant shipbuilder, army officer and statesman from Bath, Maine, USA.
Her heritage is Irish & Norwegian on her paternal side, and Scottish/English on her maternal side. She is also the great-granddaughter of Ned and June Painter (step-daughter of Peter Barclay) the original proprietors of Painter's Lodge, in Vancouver, Canada, which is now a world-class fishing resort.
