Federico Rea is an award winning Cinematographer turned Director, now based in Europe, celebrated for his exceptional visual storytelling across commercials, television, and film. Currently serving as a Creative Director at a leading production company in Dublin, Federico is responsible for conceiving and directing compelling narrative-driven campaigns that strategically elevate various global brands. He brings a unique perspective to every project, rooted in his Italian/Irish heritage and a keen eye for detail.
Federico's foundation was built at IADT - National Film School, where he graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Cinematography and Drama Direction. His technical prowess quickly led him to work on the small screen, serving as a Camera Operator on RTE's top-rated programs like The Fear and Republic of Telly.
Leveraging this expertise, his debut directorial film, Battered Dreams, won multiple awards, including the People's Choice Award at the BAFTA-nominated EXIT 6 Film Festival. This success builds upon his cinematic roots, which include a nomination at the Festival de Cannes 2015 - Short Corner for the film Bonsoir Luna. An early career highlight includes his role as Cinematographer for a video on U2's Innocence + Experience Tour, where he worked with acclaimed director Kevin Godley and producer Ned O'Hanlon. Federico continues to leverage his deep lighting and camera knowledge to ensure every directorial project maintains the highest cinematic quality.
