Biography

Kate Beaton was born on September 8, 1983 in Mabou, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is a producer and writer, known for Pinecone & Pony (2022), Antiques Roadshow US (1997) and Stripped (2014).

She is a cartoonist who launched her comic strip "Hark! A Vagrant" in 2007, while working at the Maritime Museum of British Columbia. The strip makes references to figures of history and classic literature, such as Shelley, Byron, French revolutionary Georges Danton, Pushkin, Hadrian, and Alexander Graham Bell.

She attended Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, where she majored in history and anthropology. During her junior year, she began cartooning for the school paper.
