Biography

Alex Lamy

Mini bio

  • Alex was born in Aldershot, England, where he took up playing guitar as a teenager; forming and playing in bands while slowly developing a taste for the technical world of Metal and Progressive Rock. At 16, his career objectives abruptly changed during a lesson on Film Music, where after listening to Michael Kamen's opening to 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves', Alex instantly realised that his musical ideas weren't limited to six strings.

Alex went on to complete a degree in Music Commercial Composition and Technology (BSc) at the University of Hertfordshire and a masters programme in Composition for Screen (MComp) at the prestigious Royal College of Music in London, during which time he was a grateful recipient of the Clifton Parker Scholarship and supported by The Henry Wood Trust.

After leaving The Royal College of Music, Alex started working as an assistant to the renowned, BAFTA winning, British composer and multi-instrumentalist Richard Harvey, collaborating with Hans Zimmer on Interstellar, The Little Prince, and Inferno. Alex was also an assistant and keyboard technician for Hans' 2014 'Hans Zimmer Revealed' concerts and his 2016 European live tour, in which Richard performed playing his customary plethora of instruments.

Based in London, Alex writes music for production music libraries and picture, recently completing the award nominated scores for Matthew J. Rowney's adaptation of Stephen King's 'I Am The Doorway', which won 'Best Film' at the Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival and the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards, and more recently 'Superboy: Son Of Tomorrow', which picked up Matthew's second 'Best Director' award from the LAIFFA and won a host of awards at the Superman Celebration Festival, including 'Best Drama' and 'Best Super Grab Film'.
